Adobe Open Source

Web/Online only : Adobe is an active participant in open source efforts. Adobe supports open activities by contributing to existing projects, releasing code as open source, and providing open access and conversations. Currently this is a web based set of solutions (fonts, text editors, SVG libraries) and only for online/web use and is not yet running video/cinema options as Open Source.

Open EXR

OpenEXR is a high dynamic-range (HDR) image file format developed by Industrial Light & Magic for use in computer imaging applications. OpenEXR is used by ILM on all motion pictures currently in production. The first movies to employ OpenEXR were Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Men in Black II, Gangs of New York, and Signs. Open Subdiv

OpenSubdiv is a set of open source libraries that implement high performance subdivision surface (subdiv) evaluation on massively parallel CPU and GPU architectures. This codepath is optimized for drawing deforming surfaces with static topology at interactive framerates. Cosmos Laundromat

Cosmos Laundromat (codenamed "Project Gooseberry") will be a 15-minute short film, a funny and absurdist 3D-animated love story targeted at audiences aged 13 and older. With a planned release date of July 2015, this short will serve as the pilot of a planned feature film, which would be the world's first free/open source animated feature film production.

Cinema DNG

First published in 2009, the CinemaDNG specification established an open raw cinema format upon which interoperable digital cinema workflows can be implemented. In 2011, Adobe officially turned over control and support of the CinemaDNG specification to a community of partners to ensure its future and encourage industry adoption.
